FAQs

Why Might a Book Get Rejected?

At Kingsway Learning, books may be rejected after review if they fail to meet the core values, educational standards, or practical needs of the families served. Some common reasons for rejection include:

Content Misalignment:

  • Unbiblical Worldview: Any content that contradicts a biblical foundation or promotes secular ideologies that undermine Christian faith.
  • Doctrinal Conflict: Material that conflicts with broadly accepted Christian teaching, especially in areas like creation, family structure, or salvation.
  • Inappropriate Themes: Content that includes violence, crude humor, suggestive material, explicit content, occult, magic, mysticism or other themes unsuitable for children.

Educational Quality Concerns:

  • Lack of Academic Rigor: Curriculum that doesn’t teach or reinforce age-appropriate skills or is too simplistic for the stated grade level.
  • Confusing Structure: Disorganized layout, unclear instructions, or a lack of flow that makes it hard for homeschool families to follow.
  • Inaccurate or Outdated Information: Especially in subjects like science, history, or geography.

Design & Presentation Issues:

  • Poor Visual Quality: Low-resolution images, unprofessional design, or cluttered layout.
  • Hard-to-Read Fonts or Formatting: Anything that makes the material difficult for children or parents to use.
  • Lack of Engagement: Books that feel dry, overly academic, or don’t spark curiosity and connection.

Usability & Fit for Homeschooling:

  • Not Parent-Friendly: If it’s hard for a parent to teach from the book without additional training or support.
  • No Clear Lesson Structure: Homeschool families often look for open-and-go or easy-to-follow formats.
  • Doesn’t Support Mastery or Flexibility: Materials that rely too much on testing or busywork without deep understanding.
